The questions that precede signatures.
What ISP owners, operations heads, finance managers and technical leads ask us before signing up. If yours is missing, raise it on the demo call.
/01 Product What is XIMS?
XIMS is Xonware's complete ISP management platform — one connected web console covering subscriber lifecycle, billing & GST, payment gateways, bank reconciliation, MikroTik control, OTT bundling, CRM, support, field operations, partner hierarchy and 70+ reports. It replaces the spreadsheets, vendor portals, standalone billing tools and paper KYC workflows that most operators still stitch together by hand.
/02 Product Who is XIMS built for?
XIMS is built for connectivity operators — broadband ISPs, FTTH and FTTx networks, Wi-Fi providers, IPTV and cable operators, enterprise lease-line ISPs and partner-led franchise networks. We do not target generic SaaS use cases; the platform is shaped around how ISPs actually operate, with GST, TRAI, multi-tier partner hierarchies and MikroTik integration baked into the core.
/03 Scale Is XIMS suitable for growing ISPs?
Yes. The same platform runs from a 2,000-subscriber neighbourhood broadband operator up to a 200,000-subscriber multi-state network. Smaller ISPs typically start with subscriber lifecycle + billing + CRM and add modules — OTT, fiber management, advanced reporting — as they grow. There is no separate "starter" product; you get the full architecture from day one.
/04 Operations Can XIMS support partner-led business models?
This is one of the areas we go deepest on. XIMS supports a configurable four-tier hierarchy — Franchise → Reseller → Zone → Customer — with per-tier menu access, commission rules (including parent-sharing), wallet and top-up flows, monthly user reports and zone-shift workflows. Adding a state, a reseller or redrawing a territory is an admin screen, not a developer ticket.
/05 Operations Does XIMS include complaint and customer workflows?
Yes. The CRM and ticketing engine is a first-class module — sub-category routing, SLA visibility, employee task assignment, bulk ticket creation for zone-wide outages, and full resolution history captured against the customer record. The customer-facing self-service app is part of the same platform and lets subscribers raise and track complaints directly.
/06 Operations Does XIMS support payment gateways and GST billing?
Yes — 14+ payment gateways are pre-integrated on day one: CCAvenue, Razorpay, PayU, Paytm 2.0, PhonePe, Instamojo, plus bank-tied gateways including BillDesk, GetePay, Easebuzz, AblePay and AggrePay. Every gateway has request signing, response verification and missing-transaction reconciliation built in. GST is native: CGST/SGST/IGST + HSN per plan, place-of-supply logic, GST-compliant invoices and a one-screen GST portal export.
/07 Technical How does MikroTik integration work?
XIMS controls MikroTik routers natively — RADIUS, hotspot, PPPoE, NAT, BNG interface mapping, VLAN management, IP pools and NAS master are all configurable from the operator console. Operational flows: a defaulter is detected → auto-suspend pushed to the router; a customer upgrades → bandwidth profile pushed live; an IP shifts in the GUI → MikroTik pool reassigned instantly. The result is GUI action → router obeys in seconds, with no ticket to the network engineer.
/08 Implementation Can the demo focus on selected modules?
Yes. We ask for your subscriber count, business model, current stack and operational pain points before the demo, and we configure the walkthrough around those. We don't run a fixed slide deck — the demo is the product, configured for your operations. Most demos run 30 minutes and end with a working tenant configured to your network model.
/09 Implementation How long does it take to go live on XIMS?
Most operators go live within 4 to 8 weeks, depending on data migration scope, partner structure and the modules you turn on. Onboarding is human-led — every customer gets a named implementation lead, a configuration playbook and direct support through the first month-end close.
/10 Data & Security Where is my data hosted and who has access?
XIMS runs on isolated tenants. Data residency is configurable — most Indian operators stay on Indian regions. Role-based access controls, audit logs on every action and encrypted at-rest data are standard. A security overview document is available on request, and customer data is exportable in standard formats at any time.
/11 Products What is ISP billing software?
ISP billing software automates subscriber invoicing, payment collection, plan management and revenue reporting for internet service providers. XIMS combines billing with GST compliance, 14+ payment gateways, RADIUS control and CRM so billing is connected to the network and support — not a separate silo.
/12 Products What is OSS/BSS software for an ISP?
OSS/BSS covers the operational systems (network, resources, service assurance) and business systems (billing, subscribers, partners) an operator runs on. Xonware provides both: XIMS for business support, XonIPAM and XonDDI for operational resource management.
/13 Billing Does XIMS support prepaid and postpaid billing?
Yes. Prepaid, postpaid and hybrid models run side by side, with proration, credit notes, advance renewals, grace periods and GST-compliant invoicing across all of them.
/14 Network Does XIMS support PPPoE, IPoE and hotspot subscribers?
Yes. PPPoE and IPoE broadband subscribers and voucher or OTP-based hotspot users are authenticated via RADIUS with per-plan speed policies and FUP rules, all billed against the same subscriber record.
/15 Migration Can an ISP migrate from another billing platform to XIMS?
Yes. Migration follows a shadow-mode method: XIMS runs alongside the legacy system, data is reconciled with evidence, and cutover happens only when the numbers match. No big-bang risk.
/16 Resources What is IPAM?
IP address management (IPAM) is the planning, allocation, tracking and auditing of IPv4 and IPv6 address space. XonIPAM does this at carrier scale — every address a materialised, audited row, from the /8 supernet to a single host.
/17 Resources What is DDI?
DDI unifies DNS, DHCP and IPAM into one platform. XonDDI stores one record of truth from which DNS answers, DHCP scopes and IP inventory are derived — eliminating the synchronisation drift of running three systems.
/18 Products What is the difference between XIMS, XonIPAM and XonDDI?
XIMS runs the subscriber business: billing, CRM, support, partners. XonIPAM manages IP address and telephone number inventory at carrier scale. XonDDI operates DNS and DHCP services unified with IP inventory. They are separately purchasable and jointly engineered on shared audit and API conventions.
/19 Products What is ISP management software?
ISP management software runs the day-to-day operations of an internet service provider: subscribers, billing, payments, network authentication, support and partners. XIMS covers this scope on one operational data model, deployed across 11 countries.
/20 Network How does RADIUS billing software work?
The RADIUS server authenticates a subscriber against the billing record, authorizes the session with plan attributes like speed and FUP, and accounts usage back to the ledger. In XIMS the RADIUS surface and the billing ledger are the same system, so policy always reflects payment state.
/21 Billing Does XIMS generate GST-compliant invoices?
Yes. CGST/SGST/IGST with HSN codes per plan, place-of-supply logic, GST-compliant invoice formats and a one-screen GST portal export.
/22 Network Can XIMS integrate with MikroTik routers?
Yes, natively over the RouterOS API — RADIUS, PPPoE, hotspot, queues, NAT and IP pools controlled from the operator console, with Change-of-Authorization for live speed changes and disconnects.
/23 Products What is the best ISP billing software for a growing broadband operator?
The honest answer: the one that fits your model. XIMS is a strong fit if you run GST billing, partner or franchise structures, MikroTik or standards-based RADIUS networks, and want billing, support and field operations on one record — the same platform scales from 2,000 to several hundred thousand subscribers.
/24 Partners Can XIMS manage franchises and revenue sharing?
Yes. A native Franchise → Reseller → Zone → Customer hierarchy with per-tier menus, commission rules, wallets and settlement statements.
/25 Mobile Does XIMS provide customer and field-team mobile apps?
Yes. A white-label subscriber app (bills, payments, plans, complaints) published under the operator's brand, and a field workforce app with dispatch, on-site closure and material consumption — both reading the same live records as the console.
